- National Geographic Channel has named Brooke Runnette its new president. Runnette is a former producer for CBS News, PBS’ “Frontline” and ABC’s “Nightline,” and was most recently an executive in charge of special events at Discovery Communications.
- HBO has ordered a documentary starring, EPed and shot by Beyoncé. The doc also includes footage the musician shot herself. The film will debut on HBO February 16, 2013. CNN has been more aggressive recently when it comes to acquiring off-network rights to HBO docs, so it isn’t out of the question for an eventual appearance on that channel.
- Al Jazeera English correspondent Scott Heidler is moving from New York to Bangkok, Thailand. Heidler will report from East Asia for AJE, joining the network’s lead correspondent in the region, Wayne Hay.
