The Convention Ticker: ABC’s Second Screen, CNN/Facebook, FNC’s Wallace

  • ABC News has updated its iPad app to make it a “second screen” destination during the political conventions. The iPad app (along with ABCNews.com on the desktop) will offer multi-screen coverage of the conventions, along with social media feeds, all aggregated in one place.
  • CNN and Facebook are expanding their relationship with a new tool, “Facebook-CNN Election Insights.” The app provides “dynamic, real-time charts and visualizations using Facebook Insights to gauge the volume of Facebook activity surrounding the election and candidates,” and CNN will be featuring it throughout its convention coverage.
  • Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace gives a crackerjack interview to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Paul Bond. On the competitors convention coverage: “Eight years ago, I was on the podium right next to Brian Williams, and I was struck that when we were on the air covering the convention, NBC was running Fear Factor and showing people eating bugs. If you really care about what’s going on, I don’t understand why you’d watch one of the Big Three networks.”
