The 9/11 Commission Report shows American Airlines Flight 11 impacting the World Trade Center North Tower at 8:46ET. This morning, at that time, 7 years later, the three broadcast networks had different strategies for coverage.

ABC news produced a special report beginning at 8:42amET. Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts anchored. The report lasted until 8:48amET, when ABC went to commercial, then back to GMA in the Eastern and Central time zones.

On CBS, The Early Show’s Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez, spent about six minutes on the remembrances beginning at 8:45amET and going until 8:51amET.

NBC’s Today show did not cut in for any special report, or make mention of the moment of silence or ceremony. Meredith Vieira was in an interview with “The Trouble With Boys” author Peg Tyre, and then a cooking segment was teased to close the block. On MSNBC, the remembrances were being covered live, and live reports from Ground Zero aired throughout the broadcast.
