The ‘All In’ Most Over/Under-Covered Awards Go to…

By Jordan Chariton

“All In with Chris Hayes” had its first awards show last night, with the health care rollout, Duck Dynasty controversy, Anthony Weiner, Pope Francis, and more winning honors for most over-covered and under-covered stories of 2013.

Acknowledging that both selections were partly his own fault, Business Insider’s Josh Barrow chose Medicaid expansion as his most under-covered story, with the culture wars mix of Duck Dynasty, black Santa, and Pajama Boy winning over-covered.

“The pope,” The Nation’s Richard Kim dubbed his most over-covered story, pointing out that for all the praise of Pope Francis’ criticism of unfettered capitalism, there wasn’t enough coverage on the Catholic Church’s continued fight against abortion and contraception coverage.

“Anything Anthony Weiner,” comedian Lizz Winstead joked for her most over-covered story. “The insane amount of ‘I don’t give a howdy crap about that guy’…I was so mad.” Her more serious pick for under-reported was North Carolina voting, immigration, and unemployment laws.

And host Chris Hayes singled out the Fox News/Drudge “obsession” with the “knockout game.”
