Sunny Hostin, who has been a host and legal analyst at CNN and HLN for six years, has joined ABC News as senior legal correspondent and analyst. ABC News president James Goldston made the announcement this morning.

It’s a return to ABC News for Sunny, who was part of the “World News Now” and “America This Morning” team filling in as co-anchor. Now after 6 years at CNN, where she was a host and legal analyst, we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her back.
A gifted storyteller, Sunny has an impressive depth of knowledge about the criminal justice system. She has brought clarity and context to complicated legal and social justice issues in covering some of the biggest stories of the past decade, including the Bernie Madoff scandal, the George Zimmerman trial, the unrest in Ferguson and Baltimore, the AME church shooting in Charleston and the Bill Cosby rape allegations.
Sunny began her career as an appellate law clerk after graduating from Notre Dame Law School and went on to become a trial attorney for the Justice Department and a federal prosecutor.
A native New Yorker, Sunny lives in Westchester with her husband and two children, who are the lucky beneficiaries of her culinary skills. Some of you may even have seen her impressive talents on Food Network’s “Chopped” and “Chopped Redemption.”
