Sunday Show Ratings: Sept. 25

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos opened the 2016-2017 broadcast season as the top-rated Sunday public affairs show in A25-54. This Week won its season premiere in the news demo for the second straight year, and improved on its year-ago averages in both total viewers (+9 percent) and A25-54 (+9 percent). Its 945,000 average in the news demo on Sunday, September 25 represents the best season premiere delivery since 2008-2009.

CBS Face the Nation with John Dickerson remained the most-watched Sunday show on the opening Sunday of the new season.  With a cavalcade of high-profile guests including Sen. Tim Kaine, Gov. Mike Pence, Speaker Paul Ryan and Senator Bernie Sanders, FTN delivered a 1 percent bump in total viewers and an 11 percent bump in A25-54 from the comparable Sunday in 2015.

NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd fell 6 percent in total viewers but once again grew year-over-year in the news demo (+7 percent). The program also continues to win the all-important D.C. market, defeating the compettion this past Sunday in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo. MTP has been the most-watched Sunday public affairs show in the market every Sunday it has broadcast for 68 straight episodes (since 3/22/2015).

Fox News Sunday on FOX improved 10 percent in total viewers and improved 4 percent in the news demo compared to the comparable Sunday in 2015. The program’s trio of cable replays delivered 1.7 million total viewers and 392,000 from the demo. Combining cable replays with the original broadcast, the program hauled in 3.13 million total viewers and 805,000 A25-54 this past Sunday.

Jorge Ramos talked with Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein on Sunday’s edition of Al Punto. Ratings wise, the episode held steady from the comparable Sunday last year in the 18-34 and 25-54 demos.
