A big win for “This Week” on September 2. The ABC political affairs show takes the top spot in both ratings measurements for the first time since August 2009, beating NBC’s “Meet the Press” by just +2,000 Total Viewers and +65,000 A25-54 viewers.
CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which was shortened to 30 minutes from its usual hour, placed third. The program was preempted in 2% of national ratings markets, and aired at unusual times in other markets, due to the network’s coverage of the U.S. Open.
Compared to the same week last year, “This Week” was the only show to post gains in both ratings measurements: +23% in Total Viewers, +3% in the demographic. “Meet the Press” was up in Total Viewers but down in the demo. “Face the Nation,” “Fox News Sunday” and “Al Punto” were down across the board.
Cable replays of “Fox News Sunday” averaged a combined 2,972,000 Total Viewers and 580,000 A25-54 viewers.
