NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd was the top Sunday public affairs program for May 8, both in total viewers and the key news demo (A25-54). This Week with George Stephanopoulos scored a second place finish in total viewers, moving ahead of Face the Nation with John Dickerson.
Meet the Press was up 39 percent in total viewers and up 18 percent in A25-54 from the comparable episode in 2015. The program has been No. 1 in the news demo for 10 straight weeks.
MTP replays on NBC and MSNBC delivered an additional 1.496 million viewers and 491,000 viewers in the demo.
It’s important to note that MTP is pre-empted this coming Sunday, May 15 for Barclays Premier League Soccer and will return on Sunday, May 22.
This Week finished No. 2 both in both key categories, up 27 percent in total viewers but down 6 percent in the key news demo.
Despite a third place finish, Face the Nation was up 11 percent in total viewers and up 18 percent in the key news demo.
The original May 8 telecast of Fox News Sunday on Fox was up 17 percent in total viewers and up 8 percent in the key news demo, while combining with cable replays for 3.623 million total viewers.
The cable replays of Fox News Sunday averaged a combined 2.171 million total viewers and 375,000 A25-54.
Lastly, Univision’s Al Punto increased its audience from the comparable Sunday last year among total viewers (+43%), and A25-54 (+40%).
