Sunday Show Ratings: March 22

By Brian Flood

The public affairs program on March 22 were extremely close in the total viewers category, with CBS’ “Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer” barely edging out ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and NBC’s “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd.” However, “This Week” won the key A25-54 demo, by averaging 988K viewers.

“Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer” was down -24% in total viewers and down -31% in the demo, compared to the same week last year. “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” was down -12%  in viewers and down -6% in the demo. “Meet the Press” finished up +5% in viewers and up slightly in the demo.

“Fox News Sunday” was down -5% in viewers and down -14% in the demo, while combining with cable replays for 3.4 million viewers. Replays on FNC averaged a combined 1.99 million total viewers and 383K in the demo.

Other than “MTP” growing in total viewers, Sunday’s public affairs program were down across the board. It should be noted that a year ago ratings were boosted by a busy news week that included the search for MH370 and continued tensions in Ukraine.

“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 57% of the country.
