Sunday Show Ratings: July 3

Despite the episode being retitled and not rated, Meet the Press with Chuck Todd was the No. 1 Sunday public affairs program for July 4th weekend in the key news demo, per Nielsen data. MTP was up 21 percent in total viewers and up 33 percent in the news demo from Fourth of July Sunday in 2015 (July 5). An additional 1.212 million total viewers and 403,000 A25-54 viewers watched MTP with rebroadcasts on the NBC network and on MSNBC.

CBS’ Face the Nation with John Dickerson finished No. 1 in total viewers. Per usual, only the first half hour is rated, as the second half hour is broadcast contiguously across less than 100 percent of the CBS affiliates.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos ranked No. 2 both in total viewers and in the news demo. The program was up 7 percent in total viewers but continues to struggle with A25-54, down 7.5 percent from the same Sunday in 2015.

Fox News Sunday had a big week despite its usual 4th place finish. Hosted by Shannon Bream, the program averaged a combined 4.095 million total viewers and 921,000 adults 25-54 on July 3 after taking the cable replays into account. The original broadcast on FOX was up 17 percent in total viewers and up a whopping 48 percent in the news demo from the same Sunday a year ago.

Finally, Al Punto delivered a 4 percent improvement in total viewers, but was down 9 percent in the news demo from the comparable Sunday in 2015. It’s also worth noting that Al Punto is attracting an audience base that is 12 years younger than the combined average viewer of its English-language broadcast Sunday morning counterparts in the current 2015/2016 season (50 years old vs. 62 years old).
