For the first time in nearly a year, ABC’s “This Week” took home the top spot among the Sunday public affairs shows August 25, winning in both total viewers and the A25-54 demographic. CBS’ “Face the Nation,” which remains unavailable to Time Warner Cable customers in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and other markets was second, and NBC’s “Meet the Press” was third.
ABC posted its largest demo advantage over “Meet the Press” in more than two years. “This Week” has beaten “MTP” among younger viewers four out of the last five weeks.
“This Week” and “Al Punto” were the only shows to improve compared to the same week last year: ABC is up +14% in total viewers and +10% in the A25-54 demographic, and Univision is up +16% and +12%, respectively. “Face the Nation,” “Meet the Press” and “Fox News Sunday” were down double digits in both ratings measurements.
Cable replays of “Fox News Sunday” averaged a combined 1,723,000 Total Viewers and 381,000 A25-54 viewers. Cable rebroadcasts of “Meet the Press” delivered an additional 890,000 Total Viewers and 374,000 A25-54 viewers.
“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 51% of the country.
