Sunday Show Ratings: April 24, 2016

CBS’ Face the Nation regained its status as the most-watched Sunday public affairs program on April 24, one week after temporarily ceding the throne to Meet The Press. FTN averaged over 3.37 million total viewers this past Sunday, a 1 percent bump from the April 17, 2016 episode, but a 9 percent decline from the April 26, 2015 episode. Face the Nation finished No. 3 in A25-54, delivering 818,000 viewers in that category. This is an 8 percent decline from the April 17 episode and a 24 percent decline from April 26 2015 episode. Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Bernie Sanders were guests.

Meet the Press with Chuck Todd finished No. 1 with A25-54 for the eighth consecutive week. The program delivered almost 1 million viewers in the demo (995,000), a 2 percent gain from the April 17 episode and a 27 percent gain from the April 26 2015 episode. MTP earned mixed results in terms of total viewers. The episode hauled in 3.32 million viewers in total, a 2 percent decline week-to-week, but a 27 percent gain from the April 26 2015 episode. An additional 1.345 million total viewers and 490,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo watched MTP, with rebroadcasts on NBC and on MSNBC.

This Week with George Stephanopoulos finished No. 3 in total viewers and No. 2 in A25-54 on April 24. The 2.91 million total viewer average is a 1 percent improvement week-to-week and a 17.5 percent improvement from the April 26 2015 episode. The 825,000 A25-54 average is a 5 percent decline from the April 17 episode, but a 9 percent gain from the April 26 2015 episode.

Fox News Sunday on FOX Broadcasting delivered nearly 1.4 million viewers and 367,000 viewers in the news demographic. That total viewer average is down 10 percent from the April 17 episode, but up 14 percent from the comparable episode in 2015. The 367,000 average in the news demo is a 17 percent decline from April 17 but steady with the April 26, 2015 episode.

Fox News Sunday aired replays on Fox News Channel at 2 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. ET and 2 a.m. ET. They averaged a combined 2,147,000 total viewers and 392,000 A25-54 viewers. Altogether, the April 24 episode grabbed 3,504,000 total viewers and 759,000 A25-54.

Last (but certainly not least), Univision’s Al Punto drew 723,000 total viewers and 339,000 viewers in the traditional news demo on April 24. That’s a strong performance for the program, up 6 percent in total viewers and up 14 percent in the news demo from the April 17 episode. The program increased its audience from the comparable Sunday in 2015, up 9 percent in total viewers and up 48 percent in A25-54.

 

Face the Nation is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in 78.31% of the country.
