It appears that viewers really wanted to meet the press on NBC this past Sunday. Meet the Press with Chuck Todd was the top Sunday public affairs program in total viewers (3.4 million) and the news demo (976,000) on Sunday, April 17. MTP was up 2 percent in total viewers from the previous Sunday, and up 30 percent from the comparable Sunday in 2015. The program was down by one-half percent in the news demo week-to-week, but up by 18 percent in the demo from the comparable Sunday in 2015.
MTP drew an additional 1.7 million total viewers and 584,000 adults 25-54 with rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
Face the Nation fell to No. 2 in total viewers, and maintained second in adults 25-54. The program delivered 3.35 million total viewers, a 10 percent decline from the previous week, but a 5 percent improvement from the comparable Sunday in 2015. FTN delivered 885,000 viewers in the news demo this past Sunday, a less than one percent decline from the previous Sunday and a 1 percent decline year-over-year. That said, Nation is still No. 1 in total viewers this season to-date, and up 10 percent from last season.
This Week with George Stephanopoulos delivered 2.9 million total viewers, and 872,000 in the news demo. The 2.9 million total is a 6 percent decline from the previous Sunday, but an 8 percent improvement from the comparable Sunday in 2015.
This Week had some good news when it came to the news demo viewership. The program was up by 4 percent from the previous Sunday and up 8 percent from the comparable Sunday in 2015.
The original presentation of Fox News Sunday on the broadcast network delivered over 1.5 million total viewers and 444,000 in the news demo. The 1.5 million total is a 7 percent decline from the previous Sunday, but an impressive 30 percent improvement from the comparable Sunday in 2015. The 444,000 total in the news demo represents an 11 percent decline from the previous Sunday, but an 18 percent improvement year-over-year.
The cable replays of FNS which aired on Fox News averaged a combined 2,258,000 total viewers and 462,000 adults 25-54 for the 2PM/ET, 6PM/ET, and 2AM/ET replays. If we combine the original broadcast with the cable replays, the April 17 edition of Fox News Sunday delivered almost 3,765,000 viewers and 906,000 viewers in the news demo.
Univision’s Al Punto delivered 682,000 total viewers and 298,000 adults 25-54. The average total viewer figure is a 7.5 percent decline from the comparable Sunday in 2015. The average in the news demo is an 11 percent improvement from the comparable Sunday in 2015.
Face the Nation is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in 78.31% of the country.
