Summer concerts week one goes to ‘Today’

If ratings are any measure — and really, they’re every measure — the “Today” show wins round one of the network morning show summer concerts.

According to Nielsen fast national numbers, “Today” topped “Good Morning America” by 600,000 viewers Friday. Additionally, last July, when “Today” had Lady Gaga on to perform, NBC drew 1.2 million more viewers in its 8:30-9am half hour than “GMA” did this past Friday from 8:30-9.

Lady Gaga’s Friday concert capped a week of appearances which included “Saturday Night Live,” Billboard Music Awards, “The View”, “Late Show with David Letterman” and “American Idol” all to promote her new album.
