Stephen Colbert Hosts Public Access Show in Michigan

New Late Show host Stephen Colbert isn’t waiting until September 8 to get back into a TV studio. But, since the Ed Sullivan theater isn’t quite ready for him, Colbert headed West to Monroe, Mich., — birthplace of the La-Z-Boy and childhood home of Gen. George Custer — where he filled in on the public access TV show Only in Monroe. Seriously, it’s a real show on MPACT (Monroe Public Access Cable Television).

Colbert interviewed the actual hosts, including 1988 Miss America Kaye Lani Rae Rafko, calling them the “Kathy Lee and Hoda of Monroe.” He goes on to provide local news, breaks down a Yelp review, and is eventually joined by “a local Michigander who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music.”
