‘Spirit Day’ Turns tvnewsers Purple

Millions of Americans wore purple today for ‘Spirit Day’ to commemorate the kids who were tormented for being or suspected of being homosexual. All day long, tvnewsers wore purple in support of this anti-bullying cause, started by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). TVNewser sat in on the taping of Anderson Cooper’s special on bullying earlier this month.

“The View” hosts Joy Beharand Sherri Shepherdwore purple, along with all the hosts of the new show, “The Talk”:  Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, and Marissa Jaret Winokur. “Today”‘s Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford also went purple.

Night Network Purple…

TVNewser also saw purple on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, and ABC’s World News with Diane Sawyer.

Cable purple is after the jump…

CNBC’s staff and anchors wore purple, including general assignment reporter Bertha Coombs and “Mad Money” host Jim Cramer.

The host of Headline News’ “Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell” proudly sported purple today, along with the host of MSNBC’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”
