Special Reports for Obama Immigration Announcement

By Chris Ariens

The president will appear in the Rose Garden at 1:15pmET to announce a change to U.S. immigration policy that will remove the threat of deportation for up to 800,000 people living in the U.S. illegally.

ABC News says Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos will anchor a special report when the president makes his announcement. NBC News, CBS News and Fox News, on behalf of FOX stations, will not produce special reports on air. CNN, FNC, and MSNBC will carry the Rose Garden announcement. CNN has spent the most time on the topic this morning with Wolf Blitzer anchoring special coverage beginning at NoonET.

The New York Times reports the plan means that anyone who is 30 years old and under, born in another country, and brought to the U.S. before age 16 can apply for a two-year “deferred action” that removes the threat of deportation.
