By Chris Ariens

Sonia Sotomayor is now an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. The cable news networks and ABC News broadcast the swearing-in which occurred just after 11amET at the Supreme Court — the first swearing-in at the high court in more than 70 years. More recently the associate justices have been sworn-in at the White House.

NBC’s justice correspondent Pete Williams took part in MSNBC’s coverage. On Fox News, Chris Wallace participated in FNC coverage and CNN’s senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin phoned in for CNN’s coverage.

Kate Snow anchored a special report on ABC, the only broadcaster to produce a special. In New York, Sotomayor’s hometown, WNBC carried the swearing-in as did Time Warner’s 24-hour newschannels NY1 and NY1 Noticias.
