NBC News catches a lot of flack for hiring the children of prominent politicians (i.e. Meghan McCain, Chelsea Clinton), but there is a method to the madness. Today is former President George H.W. Bush‘s 88th birthday, and NBC’s “Today” had the first interview… conducted by his granddaughter, “Today” contributing correspondent Jenna Bush Hager.

Bush says he hopes to go skydiving for his 9oth birthday. No word on whether Robin Meade will be joining him this time.

Bush will be giving other interviews today, including to “ABC World News” anchor Diane Sawyer.
