Some Reactions To “Maybe America Wasn’t Ready For Katie”

By Brian

I’ve received a number of angry responses to Jon Friedman‘s assertion, yesterday, that maybe “America wasn’t truly ready for the first solo woman evening-news anchor.” Here are three:

> “In response to Jon Friedman, maybe America, shockingly, is not ready for any woman or man to present the evening news as if it’s Entertainment Tonight,” signed, “a viewer whom Katie lost on Day One when she devoted some of her precious 22 minutes to showing me a picture of Baby Suri.”

> “What I’m not ready for is a network flagship news anchor who starts her promos with ‘Hi, there!’ Yuck… There is absolutely no reason why the first female network news anchor has to present herself this way.”

> “Maybe America WAS ready for Diane Sawyer, Paula Zahn, Kate Snow, Claire Shipman or Campbell Brown! Women with credentials, real reporters, not so-called stars, like Couric and Vargas who viewers can’t connect with.”
