The traditional day-after Christmas retail stories are taking a back seat today to the blizzard now bearing down on the Northeast. 2,000 flights are canceled, train and bus service on the busy I-95 corridor is halted, a blizzard warning is in effect through Monday. Local national TV news reporters, camera crews, producers and production crews will be working overtime, and because the blizzard is falling at the end of a holiday weekend, several newsies are finding themselves stranded. FBN’s Liz Claman tweeted that she’ll anchor her show from Los Angeles tomorrow and return to New York Tuesday. CNN correspondent Jim Acosta thinks “Snowpocalypse and Snowmaggeden” are dated. He Tweets “Brrrricane” is more fitting. With 60 MPH wind gusts, he’s on to something. And Fox News’ Andy Levy Twetted a message for the media: “Please make sure to refer to today’s snowfall as ‘vast and predominantly white.'”
Not only is tonight’s Philadelphia Eagles – Minnesota Vikings game postponed until Tuesday (left, snowbound Lincoln Financial Field during tonight’s NBC Nightly News), the New York Giants are stuck in Green Bay after their loss to the Packers this evening. The team plane will not be able to get back to New York until tomorrow.
