SPJ Announces Sigma Delta Chi Winners: NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Al Jazeera

spj logoThe Society of Professional Journalists has announced the winners of the Sigma Delta Chi awards for exceptional professional journalism. This year, awards go to NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, CNN and Al Jazeera America.

NBC News won in the breaking news category for their coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings. ABC won for feature reporting for a “Nightline” report called “The Gift of Sight.” “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” won for public service in television journalism for its report on abandoned buildings in Baltimore.

As for the cable networks: CNN’s “Weed: A Dr. Sanjay Gupta Investigation” won in the documentary category and Al Jazeera America’s report “Fault Lines: Haiti in a Time of Cholera” won for investigative reporting.
