Shuster To Be Named Permanent Anchor of “1600”

By SteveK

It appears David Shuster will continue anchoring “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” beyond this week. The New York Times’ Brian Stelter reports Shuster will be named the permanent anchor of the 6pmET MSNBC program later today.

David Gregory was the previous anchor of the program, which was formerly the home of “Race for the White House.”

Shuster was suspended by MSNBC for two weeks in February for saying, “Doesn’t it seem like Chelsea [Clinton]‘s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?” Gregory took over anchoring the 6pmET slot the following month.

Before joining MSNBC in 2002, Shuster worked at Fox News for six years.
