Shepard Smith Talks Juan Williams, Sarah Palin on ‘The View’

In addition to announcing his new deal, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith talked about a number of other subjects during his appearance on “The View” this morning, including his FNC colleagues Juan Williams and Sarah Palin.

Among the revelations was that Smith will conduct his first interview with the former Alaska governor-turned FNC contributor on the Fox broadcast channel on election night. Smith was asked whether he thought she will run for president in 2012.

“I will interview her next Tuesday and I will ask her that very question,” Smith said. “I haven’t had access to her, it has been very difficult. I saw her on ‘Hannity’ a couple of times.”

With regards to the Juan Williams case, Smith said:

“I really like the guy, but my side of it is journalism. I am really proud of the journalism that comes out of our place, we have never had a big mistake, and I don’t think Juan Williams has had a big mistake either, He is a mighty respected correspondent for The Washington Post and others, and I respect him.”

There was also a funny moment: after previewing the Delaware race, which he said “appears to be over” with Chris Coons expanding his lead over Christine O’Donnell, Smith said “I think you should all watch Fox that night to find out what happens,” to which host Barbara Walters quickly replied “except for those of us watching ABC News!”
