Secretary of State John Kerry Caught on Fox News Hot Mic Talking Israel Ground Invasion

Kerry FoxIf you’re the U.S. Secretary of State appearing on all five Sunday shows in the middle of two international crises, you’re probably receiving plenty of phone calls between interviews. This morning, one of those calls Secretary John Kerry picked up was caught on a “Fox News Sunday” hot mic.

“It’s a hell of a pinpoint operation; it’s a hell of a pinpoint operation,” Kerry said during a conversation with an aide before his interview with Chris Wallace. It’s not clear what the aide said in response, but Kerry continued: “We’ve got to get over there…I think, Jon, we ought to go tonight. I think it’s crazy to be sitting around.”

Coming out of airing the hot mic clip, Wallace asked Kerry if what he meant by “hell of a pinpoint operation” was Israel had gone too far in its ground invasion of Gaza. “You have people who have come out of tunnels; you have a right to go in and take out those tunnels. We completely support that. And we support Israel’s right to defend itself against rockets that are continuing to come in,” Kerry responded.
