In what could be her final piece for “60 Minutes,” Katie Couric profiles departing Defense Secretary Robert Gates, complete with a fresh interview this week on the mission that killed Osama bin Laden.

Gates, who was in the White House the night of the failed attempt to rescue American hostages in Iran in 1980, talks about what is was like in the Situation Room as the raid that killed Bin Laden unfolded: “Frankly, my heart was in my mouth,” Gates tells Couric.

Tuesday’s interview was one of several Couric has had with Gates over the last few weeks, including during a five-day mission to the Middle East last month.
