Just look at what he’s done in his first seven months at CBS News: “McManus has made a quick turnover in personnel, bringing in ABC News veteran Paul Friedman as his top deputy. He completely changed the management team at the CBS Evening News in advance of Couric. Colorful former Today producer Steve Friedman came in to overhaul The Early Show,” this Associated Press feature notes. Dan Rather is out; Mike Wallace is on the way out; “fresher faces” have been added to 60 Minutes; and several correspondents have been promoted.
