TVNewser hears that Diane Sawyer will be sitting in for Charlie Gibson on ABC’s “World News” this evening. Gibson has a long-standing commitment he is stepping away for.
Though not the first time Sawyer is anchoring “World News” (she’s filled in for Gibson in the past), it is the first time we’ll see her in the chair since Gibson announced his approaching retirement and ABC announced that Sawyer would replace him.
