Savannah Guthrie Gets Exclusive with Stranded Nevada Family

By Chris Ariens

The “Today” show’s Savannah Guthrie will interview the Nevada family that survived two days of sub-zero-temperatures last week. James Glanton, Christina McIntee, their two children as well as McIntee’s niece and nephew disappeared last Sunday. Rescuers found them inside their overturned Jeep on Tuesday. Guthrie will interview all six tomorrow on “Today.”

NBC says they did not pay a licensing fee — a practice some programs use to secure exclusive interviews. However, NBC is footing the bill for flights to and hotel stays in New York for more than a dozen people: the Glanton-McIntee family, their niece and nephew and their parents, as well as their attorney and his family.

“This is standard practice in television booking,” NBC News spokesperson Ali Zelenko tells the Washington Post, “and anyone who says otherwise is just disappointed they weren’t the outlet chosen by the family.”
