Ron Mott’s Route To NBC News Reporter

Ron Mott has been named NBC News Correspondent effective May 9, 2005,” the network announced today. Mott has an interesting background: He’s jumping to the network after two years as a reporter and anchor for KSHB in Kansas City. Before then, he spent a year as a reporter for WVNY in Burlington.

Mott began his career as a sports writer in Kansas City. He was also a P.R. person for the Kansas City Chiefs. He worked for the NCAA’s weekly newspaper, then served as director of communications for a sports management company, then became director of the creative marketing group for a business-to-business publishing company. In 2000, he managed proposal strategy and communications for KPMG, while working in production for the CBS Saturday Early Show and as a desk assistant for WNBC. Mott is also a licensed pilot.
