Rob Marciano is exiting “Entertainment Tonight” and returning to the weather beat for ABC News, a network spokesperson confirms to TVNewser. Marciano will join ABC as senior meteorologist in early September.

Marciano spent 10 years at CNN as a meteorologist and weather reporter. He left the network in late 2012 and in January, 2013 began co-hosting “Entertainment Tonight” alongside former local news anchor Nancy O’Dell.

The weekend editions of “Good Morning America” have been using meteorologists from ABC affiliates for the last 6 months, since Ginger Zee took on weekday duties. Zee replaced Sam Champion last December when Champion left ABC for the Weather Channel.

“The Wrap” was first to report Marciano was departing “ET.”
