Rick Sanchez in Talks to Co-Host Bilingual Talk Show

By Gail Shister

CNN exile Rick Sanchez is in talks to co-host a syndicated talk show out of South Florida, that would be shot in both English and Spanish, TVNewser has learned.

Sanchez, dropped by CNN last October, would have equity in the deal.

The show would be taped in the Cardozo Hotel in South Beach. His long-time friend from Miami, Emilio Estefan, husband and manager of singer Gloria Estefan, will also be involved in the project, which will feature live music.

As his co-host, Cuban-born Sanchez wants “a Hispanic-American female with national recognition, possibly an actress,” he tells TVNewser from his home in Atlanta. “Desperate Housewives'” Eva Longoria? “Modern Family’s” Sofia Vergara? No comment, he says.

Following his departure from MSNBC in 2003 and arrival at CNN in 2004, Sanchez hosted a short-lived talk show on Miami’s WTVJ.
