Rick Kaplan Exits: “He Hadn’t Significantly Improved MSNBC’s Anemic Performance”

“The ax fell yesterday on beleaguered MSNBC President Rick Kaplan, who took the helm of the third-place cable news network with huge fanfare 2 1/2 years ago but didn’t live up to his star billing,” Lloyd Grove says.

“His presence at MSNBC’s Secaucus headquarters has been steadily fading,” Grove adds. “NBC honchos have privately expressed frustration that he hadn’t significantly improved MSNBC’s anemic performance.” And Jeff Zucker found him “not deferential enough…”
