Reporter Files Criminal Complaint Against Trump Campaign Manager

Michelle Fields, the reporter who says she was assaulted by Donald Trump‘s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, has filed a criminal complaint, according to a report by Independent Journal Review.

The report cites “a source familiar with the events that Fields has filed assault charges with the police department in Jupiter, Florida, which is the jurisdiction where the alleged incident occurred.”

After last night’s CNN presidential debate, Trump denied the incident took place, and Lewandowski Friday morning called Fields “delusional” in a tweet:

In an interview with ABC News Thursday, Fields said “the thing is you don’t grab a female reporter or any reporter the way that he grabbed me and you don’t do that and I just feel like there’s no excuse for it.”

Fields’ employer, Breitbart News, has published a story suggesting Fields got it wrong–and that the incident was a case of mistaken identity. “The person who made contact with Fields was likely not Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski,” but a security officer, the story said.

But a witness, Washington Post reporter Ben Terris, stands by his version of what happened, telling the Post’s Erik Wemple “I saw what I saw,” and saying there was no confusion, as he had his “eyes trained on Corey Lewandowski.”
