Ratings: ‘Inside Man’ Second In The Demo For CNN

By Alex Weprin

CNN debuted two more of its acquired series Sunday night. at 9 PM, the channel launched crime series “Crimes of the Century,” and at 10 PM it debuted Morgan Spurlock’s “Inside Man.”

Spurlock’s series, which received a heavy marketing push from CNN, was clearly the bigger launch, and it seemed to deliver on its promise. As with Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown,” the program was reasonably strong in the key adults 25-54 demo, placing second at 10 PM, and improving CNN’s demo ratings compared to a year ago. In total viewers, “Inside Man” was third, behind Fox News and HLN’s “Mystery” block. The program did not deliver the ratings that Bourdain did in his debut in April, but the demo numbers are promising.

“Crimes of the Century” did not receive the big marketing push that “Inside Man” did, and it was reflected in the ratings. The program placed third in the demo, behind similar crime programming on HLN and MSNBC, but second in total viewers, behind Fox News.
