Ratings: CNN Wins Demo in Total Day, Prime; ‘New Day’ Delivers Highest Demo Ratings Ever

New Day FergusonFueled by continuing coverage of unrest in Ferguson, CNN won the A25-54 demographic in both total day and primetime Tuesday for the fourth straight day. CNN averaged 305,000 total day viewers and 529,000 primetime viewers, narrowly topping Fox News, which had 290,000 total day viewers and 523,000 primetime viewers. Fox News topped both metrics in total viewers.

“New Day” also won in the demo yesterday, delivering its highest-ever demo ratings. It was the first time in more than a year (since 7/16/13) that the CNN morning show has topped “Fox & Friends” among A25-54 viewers. CNN also won the demo in the daytime (9am-5pm) daypart. Fox News won in total viewers during both “Fox & Friends” and daytime.

During the evening hours that included live coverage from Ferguson, Fox News won in the demo at 8pmET, 10pmET, 11pmET and 12amET. CNN won at 7pmET and 9pmET. Fox News won every hour in total viewers.
