“Morning Express with Robin Meade” and “Joy Behar” continue to be bright spots for HLN, while overall the network saw decreases in primetime from a year ago.

Total day (Mon-Sun): 290k total/129K A25-54
Prime (Mon-Sun): 490k total/158K A25-54
In primetime, HLN saw an -12% decrease in total viewers and -23% decrease in the demo. In total day, the network was down -4% in total viewers and -6% in the demo. While the network was fourth in total day and primetime (Monday-Sunday) in both categories, the network actually eked out a victory over sister network CNN in the primetime demo during weekdays (Monday-Friday).
Once again, “Morning Express” was one of the few programs in cable to post an increase over 2009: +7% in total viewers and +16% in the demo (310k/177k). “Morning Express” was the #4 in total viewers among the morning shows, but #2 in the demo, behind FNC’s “Fox & Friends” but ahead of “American Morning” and “Morning Joe.”
The other HLN program to show growth in its time slot was “Joy Behar,” which was up 39% in total viewers, the largest percentage increase in cable news (588k/155k). Still, Behar finished fourth in the timeslot against Rachel Maddow, Larry King, and Sean Hannity.
The network’s top primetime show, “Nancy Grace,” was not able to see the same kind of growth (724k/233k). Grace was down -32% in the demo and -24% in total viewers year-to-year, though the program still topped “Campbell Brown.”

Morning Express with Robin Meade continues to top MSNBC’s Morning Joe in the second quarter among 25-54 viewers (177k vs. 117k). June 2010 marks the 15th consecutive month that Morning Express has beaten MSNBC’s Morning Joe in the 25-54 demo.
The Joy Behar Show has the most growth of any primetime show in Q2 among total viewers (up 39%). The Joy Behar Show also had the most growth among total viewers in June in primetime (up 52%) and the most growth at 9p among 25-54 viewers (up 23%).
