Producer Leaves News for Laughs: “This Will Be Much Funnier Than Morley Safer”

By Chris Ariens

The NYObserver catches up with former Hardball producer Jeremy Bronson, the latest news producer to go Hollywood. “His first job upon leaving the TV news business is, naturally, making fun of the TV news,” writes Felix Gillette. He’s writing for the new Comedy Central show Chocolate News, starring David Alan Grier. And he’s the only writer with a background in news.

“It’s been a tremendous benefit. It’s useful because we’re parodying a format that I worked in for some time. Many of the pieces are parodies of the kinds of things we might have covered at MSNBC,” Bronson says, adding “There will be no Chris Matthews character.”
