In an appearance set to air tonight on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, President Obama criticized the news media, which he said were often distracted by “shiny objects” at the expense of covering more weighty issues.
“The media are a bunch of different medias. Some get on my nerves more than others,” Mr. Obama said, according to a pool report provided to Politico. “What I’m most concerned about is not that it’s unfair or too tough on government…but that it gets distracted to shiny objects and doesn’t always focus on the big tough choices and decisions.”
The interview is the president’s last with departing host Jon Stewart. Mr. Obama joked that he had signed an executive order keeping Stewart from leaving the show.
