President Obama: ‘I don’t watch network news or cable news’

It turns out ABC wasn’t the only Disney network to secure an interview with President Obama yesterday. Bill Simmons from ABC’s sister channel ESPN also sat down with the President, where the topics of conversation focused more on Jeremy Lin and championships than war and tornadoes.

Obama says that he had a mild case of “Linsanity” well before any New York Knicks fan had heard of the concept:

Obama also shared that he watches ESPN’s “SportsCenter” almost nightly, but that he is not exactly an avid viewer of some other cable channels most associated with politics:

BS: I want to talk about sports. You have plenty of time to talk about politics with whoever. How do you have time to follow sports when you have the busiest job on the planet?

Obama: Well, first of all, I don’t watch network news or cable news. So in the morning, when I’m working out with Michelle, it’s on SportsCenter. This is the one thing that she allows me —

BS: That’s nice.

Obama: — to control is SportsCenter. So that pretty much keeps up the family on whatever has happened the night before.
