Pres. Obama: ‘The Affordable Care Act is Not Just a Website’

By Chris Ariens

The president appeared in the Rose Garden this morning to discuss what’s working, and what’s not working with the rollout of the Affordable Care Act. “Let me remind everybody that the Affordable Care Act is not just a website. It’s much more,” said the president at the start of his remarks.

In addition to cable news network coverage, Matt Lauer anchored a special report for NBC, and Jamie Colby anchored for FOX stations. ABC and CBS left coverage to their websites.

Flanked by Americans who have successfully signed up, the president said, “The product is good. The health insurance that’s being provided is good. It’s high quality and it’s affordable.” But the president added, “There’s no sugar-coating it. It’s been too slow and people are stuck during the application process. And I think it is fair to say that nobody is more frustrated by that than I am.”

After wavering for more than a minute, and assisted by the woman next to her, the president turned around, telling the woman, “I gotcha. You’re okay,” then joked, “This is what happens when I talk too long.” She was helped away from the event by a staffer as the president concluded his remarks.
