Pres.-elect Trump Plays Media Favorites on Twitter Over Russia Coverage

Donald Trump took to Twitter Friday afternoon and expressed his displeasure with the way NBC News and CNN have been covering the Obama administration’s sanctions against Russia, and Trump’s tweet about Russian president Vladimir Putin‘s response being a “great move.”

The Russia issue is creating a divide between Trump and many Republican lawmakers. On CNN’s Situation Room, host Jim Sciutto interviewed former Republican Rep. Pete Hoekstra, a Trump supporter. Later he interviewed Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger who said there’s nothing wrong with Trump trying to restore relations with Russia, but saying, “to praise Putin, to come out and say, this never happened and if it did it’s not a big deal is a totally different thing. And I hope that tone changes.”

During the interview Sciutto said, “It appears Donald Trump was watching our interview earlier with Congressman Hoekstra. If Donald Trump is still watching, Adam Kinzinger, I wonder if you have a message to him?”

Said Kinzinger: “I look forward to working with him domestically and internationally but I hope he sees this Russia issue is a real thing and not something to take lightly or trivially.”

This morning Trump followed up his thoughts on the media with a New Year’s tweet directed at his “enemies.”
