PiersMorganCNN anchor Piers Morgan was questioned by Scotland Yard police over phone hacking at the end of last year, the Guardian reports.

Morgan was interviewed by British police over suspected phone hacking at the Mirror Group of newspapers, which Morgan previously served as editor-in-chief for The Daily Mirror for nine years.

In a statement to The Guardian through his spokesperson, Morgan said: “In early November I was asked to attend an interview by officers from Operation Weeting when I was next in the UK.

“This was further to a full witness statement I had already freely provided. I attended that interview as requested on 6 December 2013.”

The report says Morgan was questioned under caution, which means there are grounds to suspect an offense has been committed.

When asked back in 2011 whether he or his paper ever engaged in phone hacking, Morgan testified: “I do not believe so, no.”
