Paul Begala Returns to ‘Crossfire’

By Jordan Chariton

Former co-host of “Crossfire” Paul Begala returned for the first time to the revamped rendition last night to debate Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips over the recently passed budget deal.

Begala’s stint as co-host of the early 2000s “Crossfire” is most remembered for Jon Stewart’s on-air onslaught against the show, claiming its “partisan hackery” was hurting America.

But last night, Begala took a more assertive tone.

“The Republicans are having the Battle of Antietam with thousands of people slaughtering each other in the fields,” Begala said, painting the difference between minor in-fighting among Democrats and the “civil war” among Republicans.
