Election Day opened as many days of this long campaign did, with Donald Trump calling in to Fox and Friends.
“You know I’ve spoken to you folks for a lot during our very successful primaries,” Trump said. “Oftentimes every single ones I was speaking to you in the morning and so I’m a little bit superstitious. So when you said please call I said, I’ll call. But I won many primaries speaking to you first thing in the morning. So I’m going to keep that string going.”
Co-host Ainsley Earhardt said the offer was also extended to Hillary Clinton, who kept her own string going by declining. “Yeah we appreciate you always interviewing with us,” Earhardt told Trump. “We’ve always asked Hillary Clinton to do the same thing. Every time we ask you we ask her and we appreciate you being with us in the morning.”
“She’s extremely busy,” added co-host Steve Doocy.
