Ann Curry’s 14-year tenure on NBC has spanned a number of roles, from “Dateline” host to news reader, then anchor, of “Today.” The New York Times takes a closer look today at the evolution of her wardrobe from one role to the next:
In contrast to conventional anchors, Ms. Curry has turned her back on a mostly unspoken broadcasting dress code, trading in the darkly decorous suits she wore as a news reader, and the flak jackets she donned as a reporter in Iran, for brashly colorful shirts and girlish swing dresses.
Hot colors have become her signature; she does not shy away from an eye-popping palette of flamingo pink, caution yellow and stoplight green. “She loves fashion, design and color, and she’s willing to celebrate it,” said Lisa Perry, whose dresses Ms. Curry often shows off on the air. Her tendency to stray from the newswoman uniform extends as well to her sleeveless sheaths, knee-baring dresses and elaborate details: cowl necklines and Morticia sleeves.
