October 2010 Ratings: HLN Down Across the Board

October 2010 was not a strong one for HLN. Year-over-year, the network was down -19% in Total Viewers and down -26% in A25-54 demo viewers in total day, and fared even worse in primetime.

  • Today day (Mon-Sun): 245k total/107k A25-54
  • Prime (Mon-Sun): 375k total/120k A25-54

Among all HLN programs, the one to see the smallest dip is “Morning Express with Robin Meade.” The program was down -2% in total viewers and down -7% in the demo compared to October ’09.

In primetime, both 8 PM’s “Nancy Grace” and 9 PM’s “Joy Behar” are down substantially.

Grace is down -28% in Total Viewers and down -33% in the demo. Behar is down -27% in Total Viewers and -34% in the demo.

At 7 PM, “Issues with Jane Velez Mitchell” performed slightly better, but was still down -13% in Total Viewers and -17% in the demo, year-over-year.

In October, Morning Express with Robin Meade continues to dominate MSNBC’s Morning Joe among 25-54 viewers, with an advantage of 34% (175k vs. 131k). This is the 19th consecutive month that Morning Express with Robin Meade has topped Morning Joe among 25-54 viewers.

In daytime, 9a-5p (M-F) HLN has a 14% advantage over MSNBC among 25-54 viewers for the month of October (92k vs. 81k). This is the 13th consecutive month that HLN has beaten MSNBC among 25-54 viewers from 9a to 5p (M-F).
