NYT/MSNBC Campaign Edition Discusses McCain Op-Ed (or Lack Thereof)

By SteveK

Today’s New York Times Campaign Edition on MSNBC (Tuesday’s at 2pmET) tackled the simmering controversy of The New York Times deciding not to run an op-ed from John McCain. About five minutes into the show, anchor Tamron Hall said to her co-anchor John Harwood (who also works for the Times), “We’ve got to have a little straight talk about some of the things being buzzed about on the internet, particularly this John McCain Op-Ed that was rejected by the New York Times.”

“It was surprising to me that after Barack Obama had his Op-Ed published, that they took this stance,” Harwood said. “You don’t know how different a standard is applied to presidential nominees, but it certainly provided a talking point for John McCain.”
