November 2015 Ratings: HLN Shows Growth, As it Prepares for Change

HLN showed more November growth compared to the same month last year than Fox News and MSNBC. The new-look HLN is up +7 percent in the key A25-54 demo.

More changes are coming for HLN in 2016. As TVNewser reported last week, Albie Hecht, the network’s evp and GM, is stepping down. CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker said HLN programming would resemble CNN “by utilizing a much stronger library of content that has been built in the last three years.”

  • Prime time (Mon-Sun): 305,000 total viewers / 109,000 A25-54
  • Total Day (Mon-Sun): 283,000 total viewers / 121,000 A25-54

HLN is up +7% in Total Day among P25-54 Nov 15 vs. Nov 14 (121k vs. 113k) while FOX News declines –11% and MSNBC down –9%;

HLN beat MSNBC for 18 straight months in Nov in Total Day by +26% in P25-54; the longest winning streak in more than 16 years (March 99);

HLN is the 5th highest cable net for growth among Top 40 cable nets in P25-54, up +7% in Nov.

MORNING EXPRESS WITH ROBIN MEADE

“Morning Express with Robin Meade” (MXP) ranks as the #2 cable morning news show in Nov 15 and 2015 year-to-date among P25-54;

MXP is up the most among cable morning news in P25-54 increasing +23% (139k vs. 113k) and Total Viewers increasing +48% (331k vs. 224k) in Nov 15 vs. prior year;

MXP continues to beat MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” for 19 straight months [6-9 a ET] by +24% in P25-54 (139k vs. 112k) in Nov 15 while FNC’s “Fox & Friends” slides –13%.
