Fox News Channel led all of cable news in November, and landed in second place for all of cable TV, behind only ESPN. With the Paris terror attacks pushing viewership up, November was FNC’s highest-rated month (total day) in a year.
November also marked FNC’s 167th consecutive month at number one among total viewers (both total day and prime) beating both MSNBC and CNN combined in total viewers.
In prime time, all the cable news networks were down in the demo compared to November 2014, but Fox News was down the most, -14 percent (MSNBC was down -13 percent and CNN down -12 percent).
The ratings for November, 2015 (Nielsen Live + Same Day data):
- Prime time (Mon-Sun): 1,924,000 total viewers / 352,000 A25-54
- Total Day (Mon-Sun): 1,224,000 total viewers / 226,000 A25-54
America’s Newsroom, which featured Bill Hemmer anchoring from Paris for a week following the Paris attacks, had its highest-rated month in three years, while Outnumbered was up +73 percent among total viewers and +45 percent in the demo, making November 2015 its highest-rated month ever. And Howard Kurtz‘s MediaBuzz had its best month since the show launched in September 2013.
The Kelly File, The O’Reilly Factor and Hannity all had their best month of the year, with Megyn Kelly seeing her second-highest rated month ever (the highest remains November 2014, during coverage of Ferguson). Greta Van Susteren had her second highest-rated month (total viewers) since her show’s 7 p.m. launch (The highest was November 2014).
